Role & Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer at Monotype, your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating in Agile Teams: Work in a small scrum team to design and build high-quality software that enhances customer experience.
• Developing Components: Build modular and reusable components and libraries to optimize the development process.
• Testing: Write unit, functional, and end-to-end tests using tools such as Karma, Mocha, Chai, and Sinon to ensure software quality.
• Documentation: Create thorough documentation, including High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and sequence diagrams to support new feature architecture.
• Product Knowledge: Gain in-depth knowledge of our products by successfully developing features for our applications.
• Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with stakeholders, peers, and others to ensure clarity and alignment on project objectives.
• Continuous Improvement: Strive for continuous improvement in customer experience, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• User Interfaces: Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces that meet industry standards and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

• Educational Background: A BE/B.Tech degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in Web/App Development: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in software development.
• Front-End Framework Knowledge: A minimum of 1+ years of experience in any front-end framework such as Vue.js, React, or AngularJS. Experience in building Single Page Applications (SPA) is a plus.
• Strong Understanding of Core Technologies: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript with a solid understanding of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
• Clean Coding Practices: Ability to write efficient, secure, well-documented, and clean JavaScript code following best practices.
• Agile Methodology Experience: Familiarity with Agile development environments and methodologies.
• Version Control: Experience with GIT and features branching workflow.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to tackle complex issues effectively.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders effectively.

Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes will be a plus.
• Exposure to test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
